The well-observer of the educational movement in the world sees this frantic, non-stop race between countries and intense competition for topping the list of countries with the best level of education, and the decisive factor or the basis for which international institutions rule to classify any educational institution in any country is the results Students in any type of international exam.
Regardless of the types and details of these tests, we can say that the real criterion for knowing the level of education of a country is the level of educational assessment for students in it. Then we can say about the educational system to which these students belong that it is a good educational system.
In our dear country, two people do not disagree that there are efforts aimed at improving and developing the educational process, that we have the full determination to engage in this international competition in the field of education, and that we – with God’s help – and with determination and hard work, will achieve what we aspire to as long as we set it as a goal and vision for which all educators work. achieved.
In the current period, what we are most in need of is the realization that this international competition in education falls largely on the axis of (student evaluation), this link that I see as our weakest link in education. All of these are important and necessary factors, and they still need more support, development, and attention. But on the other hand, evaluating students’ learning was and still is one of the slow-moving aspects or those that went through hasty, ill-conceived experiences. The future of the educational process in the coming days.
It is in order to prepare our students to be students who are able to pass international exams; We must first develop and change the system of evaluating their learning and the methods and procedures used in its implementation – for example – most of us are aware of the degree of damage that multiple-choice tests have caused to the educational process, because they have turned – without knowing the reasons for this transformation – to memory tests only where they do not touch in At its best, the levels of remembering or understanding of the student in the multiple-choice tests are absent from the analytical or essay questions, or the questions that ask the student to criticize, synthesize, and link topics and ideas in an appropriate cognitive way. This reduces the opportunity for student evaluation through projects, performance tasks, reports, activities, and presentations.
Unscientific and unjustified attitudes and beliefs have formed among a wide range of teachers with regard to building tests. Unfortunately, this aspect in particular, which is building strong tests, teachers have not received sufficient qualifications and training about it. This makes us see many models of multiple-choice exam questions in schools that are characterized by extreme ease. There is a view or tendency that students need to facilitate and simplify questions for them so that their grades do not decrease, and that would be a cause of problems that may befall the school, the teacher, or the student himself. Regardless of all this, the essential truth is that there is no great gift that a teacher can bestow on his students, such as making them able to deal with powerful tests and questions whose answers require mastering higher-order thinking skills such as evaluation, analysis, synthesis, creativity, criticism, and imagination, when the student possesses such skills The possibility of his success in his scientific, professional and social life in the future becomes more realized, as today’s world is characterized by only those who possess such skills.
I can conclude that it is necessary for the educational system not to search for what is easier and easier in the processes of automatic correction and monitoring or the administrative processes of the system for monitoring and correcting test results. The test should be built in a way that develops and transcends the student’s mentality and skills, and then an appropriate administrative system is established for it for correction, monitoring, etc.. because the student evaluation system is the real bet to improve the level of education and our ability to compete internationally and the place we deserve among the educational systems in the world.
